East Dubuque Firefighters conducted live fire operations this evening that included the physiological monitoring of the members who participated. This is a huge opportunity for the department as it shows the thermal effects that firefighters face when operating on the fire ground. These monitoring devices measure heart rate, core body temperature, exertion, & distance traveled. The information gathered will be used to help improve firefighter safety. Thank you to Chief Craig Haigh for coming out and helping to facilitate the training & to FireHUD for allowing us to be in their pilot program. East Dubuque citizens can be proud of the fact that we are the first volunteer department in the country to do anything like this & more training will be forth coming in the next couple of weeks.
